Neurotoxins
(Jeuveau, Daxxify, and Botox offered at Lux Aeterna Med Spa)
Neurotoxins, also known as neuromodulators, are a type of cosmetic and medical injectable that temporarily and locally paralyzes the muscles to prevent the movements that show and cause wrinkles. Neuromodulators are a simple and safe procedure that takes only a few minutes and requires no recovery time. Wrinkles are often caused by the constant repetition of certain facial expressions, such as squinting, raising eyebrows, and frowning. Neurotoxins treat these wrinkles by temporarily reducing the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines in adults. Since neurotoxin treatments work by preventing muscle contraction, they are also an effective way to prevent future wrinkles. This treatment can help an adult patient of any age improve his or her appearance. Neurotoxins are short-term remedies for wrinkle reduction that typically work for three to four months. As new neurons form connections to the muscles and start to restore activity after several months, neurotoxins will need to be administered again. To discuss your neurotoxin options and how they may benefit you, schedule a consultation at Lux Aeterna Med Spa.
What are the areas targeted by neurotoxins?
Forehead lines, glabellar lines or “the elevens,” crow’s feet, bunny lines, lower face lines, turned down corners of the mouth, wrinkled chins, platysmal bands, necklace lines, or fine lines of the chest.
What does a typical appointment look like?
The affected area will receive treatment via multiple injections. Although the tiny, medical-grade needles used for injections mean that most people don’t experience pain, ice or a vibration distraction tool can assist you if you are concerned about discomfort. The treatment takes less than thirty minutes. There is little downtime following treatment. The patient can resume their regular activities right away except for vigorous exercise.
When will I see the results?
Neurotoxins may take seven to fourteen days before they reach their peak cosmetic effectiveness. Patients notice less movement two to five days after the injection, and the full effects are visible one to two weeks later.
How long do the results last?
Patients should be aware that treatments are temporary and that the typical duration of results is three to four months. Regularly treated patients may experience longer-lasting effects.
What are the side effects?
Injections of neurotoxins are safe and dependable when done by a trained professional. Most side effects are minor and infrequent. They could include bruising at the injection site, redness, discomfort, slight swelling, numbness, and headache. In rare instances, the neurotoxin can move to neighboring muscles and weaken them. The most common example is eyelid drooping related to the neurotoxins affecting the muscles controlling the eyelids. To prevent the spread of neurotoxins to other muscle groups, patients should refrain from touching or scratching the treated area right after injection, wearing a hat/headband, laying their head down, or engaging in strenuous activity. The most significant risk of neurotoxins would include muscle weakness, vision problems, difficulty speaking or swallowing, or breathing problems.
Am I a suitable candidate for neurotoxins?
Neurotoxins are an excellent choice for someone who wants to reduce the intensity of facial lines brought on by skeletal movement. Both men and women can choose to receive this treatment. The best time to start treatments is right as your forehead, smile lines, and wrinkles around your eyes begin to emerge while your muscles in the area are at rest. Although it’s difficult to estimate when precisely that may happen, in some people, it could happen as soon as their late twenties or early thirties.
Regardless of your age when considering neurotoxic therapy, selecting a skilled professional whose aesthetic and treatment philosophies coincide with your own is crucial. At Lux Aeterna Med Spa we will work with you to develop a plan that fits your goals and aspirations.
FAQ
Neurotoxins are injected into the muscles beneath the skin, weakening their capacity to contract and smoothing the skin’s surface. Botulinum toxin injections temporarily inhibit the nerve cells that stimulate specific muscles to contract. You can still make facial expressions as these muscles weaken, but they are not as dramatic as before.
The toxin molecule inhibits the nerve-muscle link, and patients notice the effects as early as seven days after the injection. The full impact is felt between 10 and 14 days later.
Additionally, the product will gradually start to be broken down by your body as it is naturally metabolized. With this therapy, facial wrinkles become less noticeable and potentially wholly vanish.

Dermal Fillers
(Revanesse Versa+ and Lips+, RHA Line, Juvederm Line, )
Dermal fillers are predominantly made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural substance found in the body. Hyaluronic acid attracts and binds to water molecules and increases the water content in the skin, it can absorb more than one thousand times its weight in water. Over time and as you age, your body’s stores of hyaluronic acid decline. Hyaluronic acid is used to eliminate wrinkles, add volume and hydration, and replace volume loss.
What are the benefits of dermal fillers?
Improved facial symmetry, to plump and hydrate, restoration of volume to targeted areas, softening of lines, providing prejowl support, and facial balancing.
What does a typical appointment look like?
After cleaning and preparing your targeted area, your nurse will provide topical or injectable numbing. Topical anesthetics, injectable anesthetics, ice, or vibration distraction tools can help with discomfort. The dermal filler will be injected slowly and precisely until desired outcomes are reached.
When will I see the results?
Results are visible immediately after receiving injections.
How long do the results last?
The results are temporary, lasting six to twelve months, or occasionally longer before the body gradually and naturally absorbs the particles. Most hyaluronic acid fillers are infused with lidocaine to help minimize discomfort during and after treatment.
What is the recovery time after my injections?
Swelling and mild bruising can last up to a week, depending on how your body reacts to the treatment and how much volume is injected. After treatment, you can resume your regular activities, but you should avoid exercise for twenty four hours. You should give yourself two weeks before any event or vacation.

PDO Threads
(Polydiaxonone Monofilament Threads)
PDO Threads, Polydiaxonone threads are a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure aimed at reversing some stubborn and visible signs of aging. There are numerous variations of PDO threads in differing styles and lengths which can provide volume, lift, fullness, and skin retraction. The threads are made of monofilament sutures similar to what a surgeon utilizes, however some are smooth, twisted, or barbed. Your body will absorb the monofilament sutures in approximately six weeks while continuing to make new collagen and elastin in the area. You could see improving results for up to twelve or eighteen months.
What does a typical appointment look like?
Your nurse will clean and prepare the skin and surrounding areas to be worked on. Local injectable anesthetic can be used at the insertion site where the PDO threads will be placed under the skin and tunneled through. Once the threads are in proper placement, they will be rubbed to engage them with the tissue. Traction can be applied in a retrograde direction for lift and skin tightening. A typical appointment is thirty to sixty minutes.
What treatments can be done?
Brow lifts, cheek lifts, neck lifts, tightening of neck skin, lifting of skin around elbows or above knees, butt lifts, subtle lifting of breasts, filling in of smokers lines (perioral lines), and many more uses.
Is this a painful procedure?
As this procedure isn’t usually described as painful, the description does sound a bit barbaric. Topical and injectable anesthetic is used when and where appropriate before and during the treatment. Post procedure, you may feel some pulling or tugging sensations where the threads were placed. This is until they settle in place, in which you won’t feel them anymore. For discomfort after the procedure, motrin and ice can be used if necessary.
Microneedling
(AquaGold)
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure utilizing hair thin needles to cause purposeful trauma to the skin which stimulates collagen and elastin. At Lux Aeterna Med Spa, AquaGold microchanneling and microinjector devices are used. These are hypoallergenic single patient, sterile devices with twenty hollow needles that are twenty four karat gold plated.
What does a typical appointment look like?
Your nurse will clean and prepare your skin for an AquaGold Treatment with a variety of different products. Microdoses of neurotoxin, dermal filler, serums, vitamin solutions such as Vitamin C, or PRF (see above) can be combined into the chamber of AquaGold. With this device, up to 2,400 microinjections can be achieved per minute. These products are delivered directly into the skin leaving the skin plump, hydrated, glowing, and healthy. A typical appointment is thirty to forty five minutes.
How many treatments are needed?
Clients may see results with just one treatment, but repeated treatments will lead to more profound and lasting results. Treatments should be spaced a few weeks out from each other. Minimal downtime is noted for this procedure. We suggest letting the products stay in contact with the skin, so sleeping in the “mask” overnight is ideal. Treatments can take place on the face, neck, decollatage, and tops of hands.
PRF
(Platelet Rich Fibrin)
PRF is Platelet Rich Fibrin. Some people may have heard of PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma, but PRF is a newer updated version of this treatment. PRF is the isolation of growth factors in a fibrin mesh network after a simple blood draw. PRF compares to PRP in that PRF has added value of growth factors in a lesser volume for injection.
What does a typical appointment look like?
Your nurse will ask you to come well hydrated to your appt, then draw your blood, spin it in our centrifuge at Lux Aeterna Med Spa, and isolate the “liquid gold” fibrin sitting above the other blood products in the test tube. Your nurse will draw up the fibrin and prepare for your treatment. A typical treatment is thirty to sixty minutes long.
What can be done with PRF?
PRF can be injected into numerous areas of the body including hair/hair line, under eyes, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, etc. Your body will naturally and miraculously decide which growth factors to capitalize on and put them to work.
How many treatments are needed?
Clients benefit from three to six treatments which should be spread out four to six apart. Clients will see noticeable differences from added volume right away. The body will absorb this natural product within the week and repeated treatments give lasting results for fine lines, wrinkles, dark circles, hollows, etc.
PRF EZgel
(Platelet Rich Fibrin made into a filler)
PRF EZgel, is PRF (see above) with an additional step. This is a new and cutting edge technique that heats one tube of PRF, while cooling another tube of PRF, and then combines both to form a gel substance similar to dermal filler (see above).
What does a typical appointment look like?
Your nurse will take all of the same steps listed above for PRF but then use a heating element and a cooling element to treat two different PRF specimens. They will then be mixed together to form the gel substance and injected back into your areas of concern.
What treatments can be done with PRF EZgel?
Adding volume to areas such as cheeks, lips, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, chin and jawline. Acne skin scars can be treated. Skin laxity can be treated. Smoothing out of wrinkles.

IV Therapy is known to lessen severity and duration of colds by boosting immune system, boost athletic performance and aid in recovery, rehydrate, improve hair, skin, and nails.
B12 INJECTIONS
The body will have immediate access to the vitamin via injection as opposed to oral consumption and gastric absorption. You will see results faster with B12 injections than with oral vitamins. In addition, vitamin B12 is one of the very few vitamins that can be stored in your body.
What are the benefits of B12 injections?
Increases metabolism, helps to prevent anemia and osteoporosis, aids in brain health, boosts the mood, lessens unpleasant symptoms during pregnancy, supports healthy hair, nails, skin, and bones.
Plasma Pen
A skin pen is a handheld device used by your nurse to perform noninvasive fibroblast therapy, which is the stimulation of collagen in the skin. Electrical energy is converted into electrostatic energy on the skin which contracts and signals the skin to produce collagen. Immediate and long lasting results are noted for up to three years. This is not suitable for all skintypes, please call Lux Aeterna Med Spa to schedule a consultation.
What does a typical appointment look like?
Your nurse will clean and prepare your skin. Apply topical anesthetic, and perform your treatment in a dotted grid like pattern. Typically, one to three treatments are necessary spaced a few months apart. Downtime for this treatment includes some swelling, discoloration, and scabbing for less than one week. Treated skin is to remain dry for a few days, then your normal skin care routine may be resumed.
What are you treating with the Plasma Pen?
Skin tightening, skin lifting, firming, and overall rejuvenation. Lessening of dark spots. Treatment of acne scars, or scar revision in general. Removal of skin tags. Brightening of the skin. Wrinkle reduction.
Is this a painful procedure?
After identifying targeted areas for treatment, topical anesthetic will be applied. The treatment can be described as “spicy.” Motrin and ice can be used for discomfort afterwards.
